038//365 “Up, up and not quite away”

Taxi-ing to the run way, all set for take off, fire up the engines and just before all systems are go, the pilot’s window shatters.

Good news - it happened before take off.

Bad news - now we need to find a new plane.

Good job those resourceful for at Brussels airline had a spare one knocking around!

035//365 “All quiet on the northern front”

The north of the city seems quiet tonight. Too quiet.
034//365 “Happy Renew Year”

February has reared its ugly head and it’s time to really jump into action again. What better chance to kick start this than at a gathering of the great and good of the Brussels based European Socialsts.

It was great to catch up with faces I hadn’t yet seen this year and blow the cobwebs off my political engagement for the year ahead!

NB: This was no forum, I just enjoyed stumbling upon this heavily signed globe in the corner!

030//365 “Weekend winter wonderland wanders”

There’s nothing quite like wrapping up warm, strapping on a camera and heading out into the snow to snap the day away - and this weekend alive been taking full advantage of this winter time guilty pleasure!
029//365 “There’s no business like snow business”
After a few days of -10 (or lower) weather, the snow finally came (the first real snowfall of this winter!
Naturally it brought with it the usual chaos on the road - but I don’t mind, I took a slow stroll home with a camera in hand to try to capture this all too not often rarity!
Brussels can have a tendency to be a dirty and in places, ugly city. The snow seems to wipe the city’s face clean, blanket the streets and altogether make it seem much friendlier!
028//365 “Heaven is a place on earth”
Taken through the window of one of the two fabulous camera shops in Place St Boniface in Brussels.I love this place - I always love to stop and stare in awe and wonder (especially at some of the higher end medium format cameras) when I pass from time to time!

027//365 “Spoor vijf, spoor vijf…”
I see to spend half of my life hanging around airports and train stations. Not that I’m complaining - I love waiting around to go somewhere, usually taking the time to indulge in a the rare treat of a cover to cover read of whatever quality newspaper I can get my hands on.
026//365 “Back from the shires”
After a one day delay due to the Belgian General Strike, it’s back to Brussels I go on the Eurostar.Just after snapping this picture of my local Metro station up, I was quickly greeted by what I know now to be the increasingly plummeting temperatures. Winter is finally here.
018//365 “I hear the train a comin”This tram track sits right outside my window. It can get a little loud at times - but I’ve gotten used it now.I’ve only ever took this tram once - I’m even entirely sure where it goes!
017//365 “Northern Lights”
I read an article today that said the northern lights have been spotted illuminating up the night skies of Yorkshire. This is closest I’m going to get this week (Station Brussel-Noord)

016//365 “Let’s get these wheels on the road”A few days wait and a few minutes tweaking and my new red wheels are set to go!The last set had served me well - but I cannot wait for the summer to take these red rubies for long countryside stretches.
015//365 “All good things must come to an end” …and thus as the good weather draws to a close, so must my canal love season. It’s been fun wandering my local canal basin early most mornings, camera in hand - but alas I must move on to new (hopefully warmer) ventures.

014//365 “Change is a comin” There’s a lot of great urban regeneration projects underway on the canals of Brussels. No areas yet seem to be reaping the benefits, but so long as the developers don’t destroy some of the beautiful canal sites they are building on, I can see good things for this neighborhood in the coming years!

013//365 “My canal love is growing” I’m not sure if it is the brisk walk or the deviation from heading straight to work in the morning, but this week I’m really falling in love with Brussels’ beautiful industrial canals. On a crisp morning like today - a still with camera in hand was the perfect way to wake up!
012//365” A canal side with a story to tell” A broken metro system forced me to take an alternative route to work this morning. In walking so close to this canal side cartoon stip my way to another station, I thought a small deviation to snap it up was more than worth it!
